SOUTH SIDE GARDEN CLUB
ABOUT
The South Side Garden Club of Long Island was originally formed in 1916 and became a member of The Garden Club of America in 1921. The focus of the club has always been to encourage the knowledge and love of gardening, as well as improving and protecting the quality of the environment, especially as it concerns issues important to Long Island.
Our club’s four main areas of interest:
HORTICULTURE~nurturing a knowledge of gardening through workshops, guest speakers, member mentoring and sharing.
CONSERVATION~keeping members informed on current issues through meetings, lectures, bulletins
FLORAL DESIGN~learning principles and elements of arranging flowers through workshops, guest demonstrations, flower shows
PHOTOGRAPHY~teaching techniques such as lighting, composition, use of phone apps to improve and appreciate nature photography
